True Crime Obsessed

Watching a documentary, 20/20, or based-on-a-true-story movie will usually propel me into a week long research project complete with public records and local paper reports. This is not a past time shared with many, but it’s real - I’ve learned a lot.

With that said, when I was scrolling through Spotify looking for entertainment to pass the time, I was naturally attracted to the “true crime” podcasts. I spot checked a few and then came across  - “True Crime Obsessed.” I had to restrain myself from binging too quickly. My sis did not have the same will power. I think she listened to all they had to offer in two days.

Patrick Hinds and Gillian Pensavalle recap and discuss documentaries that focus on criminal activity from as mild as fraud to the most heinous circa Slenderman or The Keepers. Together, they approach each case with a balance of humor and empathy, never forgetting these are real people with real pain.

Start from the beginning, if you want to be up to speed on all the inside jokes or hear the development of the garbage bell - ding ding ding. Or listen to the latest and work your way back. Watching the documentary before the podcast isn’t a requirement, as each episode of True Crime Obsessed includes the right amount of clips from the actual documentary, so you’ll never feel left out.

Check out their website truecrimeobsessed.com for their Episode Calendar to see what’s coming next.
